Face your children. Move your entire body towards them. Put your phone away. Turn the tv off. Don’t half-listen with your attention elsewhere. Try to do this as many times as you’re able. You will see the connection increase
Hear More, Speak Less
Allow them to let whatever is on their mind come out by acknowledging it with much less language than they. We end up lecturing when they come to us. We teach them lack of confidence in their own thoughts. We aren’t supposed to be stuffing our viewpoints down their throats; most of the time, they will come to their own conclusions with open ended words and questions.
